This midge pattern has earned some major air miles over the years. Still water to rivers, this is a universal chironomid pattern.
At first I had my doubts about this fly. I gave it a shot three seasons ago and have been a loyal fan ever since. I have caught fish every time I have ever used it.
I named after a british pub favorite beverage of mine.
They’re Back! the Rainbow Holographic Rainbow Warrior
You guys loved these but I stopped tying them this way. I sincerely apologize for that. I also stopped using UV resins because every brand I have ever used fails my durability tests. That test is called FISHING!
Instead, I have reinforced these with stainless wire for maximum durability.
This is a cash and carry item. You will be buying one dozen of the size listed available and will ship within 3 business days.
P.S. Please don’t send me messages about ******’s brand of resin...I’ve tried it.
One of my biggest fish from Colorado’s Yampa River fell prey to one of these. In fact, one day I pulled 6 fish from one pool over all over 18” with one. This is just a classic universally popular pattern. Due to rigors of tactical nymphing, the matte orange tinsel is reinforced for added durability.
I tied a small batch of similar micro glint jigs last spring when a few found themselves into a "Flysenberg Fifty" collection that a local angler and buddy bought. A few months later I got a text from him asking for more. It turns out his ace angling daughter is cleaning up with them.
I originally tied these for the PMD hatches but found they work all the time by imitating drowned spinners, crane flies, and a wide gamut of familiar food items trout frequently see.
I ran out of these one day last last march after landing (according to my logs) 106 greater than 16” fish in a 4 hour session while standing in the same section of water. I was up extra early the next day stocking up.
I love the spring buzzers on the Roaring Fork. Rafts of midges can be seen drifting along during the hatch as fish are just coming out of winter mode. A lot of bugs and extremely hungry fish make for an amazing few days.
